A few things that I love
Horses
I've been riding horses since I was born, and I've taken that with me in to my adulthood. I now have one horse named Finn, that I have been training myself since he was 6 months old. It has been the most rewarding and infuriating process I've gone through. Feel free to follow our journey at our instagram _myfriendfinn_
Outdoors
I love being outside. If I'm not with my horse you can catch me hiking mountains with my fiancé and vizsla, or skiing (aka falling down a mountain) with my friends and family. Anything to be outside and in nature. Pictured here is Mt. Huron. Allegedly the easiest 14er in CO. Reviews will have you know there is no Starbucks at the top however.
Learning
From skiing, to climbing. From learning to drive a manual car via youtube in France, to writing code, I love learning new things. Learning to code at a bootcamp in 7 months in a leaky basement of a bank has only reenforced the idea that I can do anything I set my mind to. I try to use a Growth mindset to take on new challenges at work and in my personal life because there is so much joy in trying new things!
Work and Education
Stackhawk is a DAST security company that brings the security closer to the developers by shifting left.
I am a Frontend Developer at StackHawk, where I currently work on the Growth team. My responsibilites include creating integrations for our product, overseeing and maintaining the frontend codebase, creating a custom Component Library for our brand, advocating for accessibility, and much more. I've worked accross many teams including our Scanning and Website teams.
Turing School of Software and Design is a Non-Profit Coding Bootcamp out Denver, CO. They offer both Frontend and Backend 7 month programs.
I went through the Frontend program at Turing. At the time it was an in person school in the basement of a leaky bank. The program focused on Vanilla JavaScript, React.JS, Node.JS, and Design. It also included lectures on accessibility, ethics in tech, and agile workflows.
As you progressed through 4 modules in the program, each module included 2 individual projects, 1 group project, and 1 paired project. If you want to see more you can find my work on GitHub.
Nebraska Wesleyan University is a small liberal arts school in Lincoln, NE.
I started out Pre-Med at NWU and eventually (after 3 years) came to realize medicine wasnt for me. Possibly it was the mold going against nature and growing on my Formaldehyde cat, Fluffy, or my inabilty to master any sort of math with both numbers and letters.. I found a lot of joy in Conservation Biology and finished out my degree with a focus on Botany. Like any good millenial though I no longer use my degree for more than casual conversations and identifying toxic plants.
